Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. In addition to his appearance in the drama series released internationally under the name The Killing, he subsequently was a part of two other critically highly acclaimed Danish dramas: Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He played the role of Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in a scene on BBC Drama Sherlock. In the American TV series House of Cards, he played the president of Russia. In 2018, he took home an International Emmy Award for his performance as the president in Russia on the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was broadcast in the UK in 2019. According to Mikkelsen's statement his sources, he was taught English from his brother through watching Monty Python recordings and watching the comedy sketches.
